A book of prayers to the Holy Face of Jesus

Hide and Seek

Be Lost.  Seek.  Be Found.  Lead Others.

Hide and seek.

I was playing hide and seek with my 2-1/2 year-old granddaughter the other day and I marveled at the joy and excitement when she would finally find me and for my own anticipation of her relentless search to find me!  She would call out and I would respond with little vocal hints to give her clues and signs of where I was.

I often think about how often we search for Christ’s presence in our lives and how often we look for “signs” and when none is present, we lose interest!  While we can’t visually experience God, we need to know that He is near and to ‘call out” so that He can respond, to our prayers!  We can also get a “reading” on His presence through scripture! The reality is, we should never lose faith in the fact that God is always near and we should be ever joyful in anticipation of finding Him!

“Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” Isaiah 30: 20-21.

And once you find Him, share the good news with those who have not found Him!

“Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.  As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.'” Matthew 10:6-7.

An interesting thing about my 2-1/2 year old!  Every time she found me, she would choose that very spot for her hiding place when it was her turn!  The point is, if we find Christ, odds are very good that those close to us will also!

And what a blessing that would be for both of us!
