The veil of darkness that impedes grace,
Can come from with in us by blinded eyes and hearts
or from outside ourselves, by oppression and afflictions.
Let the light of Christ,
The pure and Holy Son of God,
pierce these veils, open our eyes and our hearts,
Reveal the truth,
Uncover the lies,
And drive all darkness into itself!
Let us vanquish all that afflicts us,
and all the strongholds that bind us!
2 Corinthians 4:6-7 RSV)
For it is the God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us.
